TOKYO, December 3, 2014 –Starting from December 4, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. will launch a new cloud-based cross-media service, SkyDesk Media Switch Video Card Link Service, offering a free appNote1 for smartphone users to create New Year's cards embedding video contents, and have receivers view the videos.

Using the new smartphone app, senders can deliver video recorded messages in their New Year's cards, while receivers can view those messages by downloading the app and shooting the image on the cards using their smartphone cameras.

To create video embedded cards, senders first download the app and create a print data using the templates and video contents filmed with their smartphones. Then, they register information such as senders' names and number of prints to complete print orders, and wait for the New Year's cards–printed in high quality at Fujifilm laboratories–to be delivered to their homes. SkyDesk Media Switch Video Card Link Service is starting out with New Year card templates, and will sequentially add other templates to its lineup, such as birthday cards and message cards for general purposes.

Fuji Xerox offers a new communication style with this service enabled by a single app to create and view cross-media contents in simple steps.

About SkyDesk Media Switch

Using Embedded Media Markers Note3, a similar image search technology developed by Fuji Xerox's U.S.–based affiliate, FX Palo Alto Laboratory, Inc., SkyDesk Media Switch is a cloud service that delivers multimedia contents to smartphones. When a user takes a picture of the Marker signified document patch with a smartphone camera, the media content such as videos and websites associated with that part of the document is displayed on the smartphone. The service is being adopted by a cooking magazine and other media.
