The Public Cloud Service Supports Facilitation of Virtual Projects

TOKYO, July 18, 2012 — Digital Hollywood Co., Ltd., which runs IT and digital content-related vocational schools, college and graduate school, will adopt SkyDesk Service—a public cloud service to support business communications provided by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.—in its newly-launched Job Outsourcing Support Business, and starts using the service in fall this year.

The Job Outsourcing Support Business is one of the main businesses of Digital Hollywood's job-matching website, SmartWork. Digital Hollywood undertakes creative jobs such as web production, desktop publishing (DTP) and computer graphics (CG) production from companies and organizations, and assigns them to the project teams with expert skills, consisting of fee-paying SmartWork members.

These project teams are administrated under the Team Sumajin (see Figure 1.), and communications between team members and production progress management will be conducted with the SkyDesk Service. The service promotes virtual collaboration among the project teams consisting of members from a vast pool of human resources with various skills, thereby facilitating the project as well as catering to a variety of production job requests from companies and organizations.

SkyDesk Service is a public cloud service that offers functions such as integrated email management, schedule management, document creation and organizational group management, as well as a collaboration function that integrates the individual functions, so as to simplify and streamline communications within teams. It has more than ten applications, which users can access upon registration. The links to these applications are all available on the SkyDesk portal site, and users only need to sign in to freely access them.

By using the fee-charging SkyDesk Mail Standard Service—the email service with large storage capacity and the ability to manage a large number of organizations and groups—, Digital Hollywood aims to enhance operations and management of SmartWork project teams as well as communications between the members.

Users only need to register their ID to access basic functions of all the applications on offer free of charge, and they can eventually switch to the paid services, which makes it easy to upgrade the service step by step.

The top page is the portal for accessing all the SkyDesk functions. From the top page, users can access to a wide range of applications and see the activities of organization members in real time. Additionally, shared information such as business cards and files are posted automatically to enable smooth distribution of information.
