Fuji Xerox’s beat Provides More Secure Way to Transfer Highly Sensitive Data Between Companies

Strengthens Connection With FUJIFILM Imagetec's “IMAGE WORKS”

TOKYO, July 16, 2008 — Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. will conclude a sales partnership agreement with FUJIFILM Imagetec Co., Ltd. for its secure network outsourcing service, beat. Strengthening their collaboration, the two companieswill provide solutions linking beat and IMAGE WORKS to ensure a more secure and efficient environment for the transfer of highly sensitive data between companies.

IMAGE WORKS is an ASP (Application Service Provider) service offered by FUJIFILM Imagetec to share all kinds of digital data including images through a storage server on the Internet enabling quick and secure exchange of large volumes of data. The user-friendliness and security of the service have been highly evaluated resulting in introduction by design/production firms and advertising agencies, for example. They exchange a high degree of confidential information in planning and producing of printed materials and new products that are yet to be announced.

A major challenge in protecting critical data is to maintain a high level of security in the infrastructure of transmission channels. By combining beat services with IMAGE WORKS, it is possible to highly encrypt transmission channels that carry large amounts of information assets, which helps prevent interception, falsification and destruction of critical information to ensure secure transmission of data via the Internet.

The combination of these two services was employed for the Summit PhotosNote 1 by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan during the 2008 G8 Kyoto Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (June 26-27) and the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit (July 7-9), and evaluated positively in terms of security and convenience in transferring large files . Images of the official events and others were successfully distributed to media organizations around the world in a secure and precise manner in the shortest time of 12 minutes after photographing, which contributed to media reports in various countriesNote 2.

In addition to providing this combined service for international conferences, official sports events and so forth, Fuji Xerox and FUJIFILM Imagetec will strengthen the sales channels of both companies. They also plan to create an integrated one-stop service by introducing IMAGE WORKS and beat in each service.
