Fuji Xerox Launches Full-Fledged Light Production Color System for the Print On-Demand Market

TOKYO, July 10, 2008 — Targeting the production color market, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. has developed a high-image-quality color on-demand publishing system, 700 Digital Color Press, which achieves output resolution of 2,400dpi at 71ppm^{Note 1} in both color and monochrome. Sales begin on August 1, 2008.

The 700 Digital Color Press is a full-fledged light production color system, which reinforces Fuji Xerox's production color product lineup. In addition to the aforementioned printing speed, the system employs the following advanced, proven technologies that have been leading the production color market:

• VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) technology that realizes output resolution of true 2,400dpi.
• HQ digital screen MACS (Micro Accurate Control Screen) technology enabling stable tone reproduction of illustrations, gradation and halftones.
• IReCT (Image Registration Control Technology) for high-precision registration required in commercial printing.

The 700 Digital Color Press employs the high-performance PX700 Print Server developed by Fuji Xerox boasting a high-precision color management feature to meet requirements in the professional market, and therefore satisfy customers' sophisticated needs in color printing.

• Handles eight types^{Note 2} of color profile commonly used as color reproduction standards, and customers can select their preferred color standard to perform a color simulation.
• Realizes color stability through highly accurate calibration.

These technologies fulfill capabilities required in the print on-demand market, notably high output quality, productivity and operability, while also ensuring high cost performance. The 700 Digital Color Press meets diverse printing and media needs, including brochures, pamphlets and direct mails that leverage variable printing unique to print on-demand. The device can therefore be used in a wide variety of markets from the graphic arts to in-house on-demand printing.

Further, newly developed EA-Eco toner with enhanced energy-saving capability has been incorporated for the first time in a Fuji Xerox product. This toner can be fused to paper at a temperature more than 20 degrees Celsius lower than conventional EA toner, resulting in lower power consumption during fusion.

As the pioneer in production printing, Fuji Xerox will continue to contribute to customers' business expansion by strengthening its product line-up.
