Balancing Work and Family Life

Under the New Work Way in 1988, which was a movement to innovate traditional management models based on the policies of "respect for the individual" and "creating jobs and work environments that bring out individual creativity," Fuji Xerox has long sought to create environments and a corporate culture that encourage a balance between work and family life. Efforts include the introduction of a childcare leave program in 1988 and a family nursing care leave program in 1990. In 2002, Fuji Xerox was the recipient of the outstanding performance award sponsored by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in recognition of being a "family-friendly organization". In line with the content of its First Action Plan in accordance with the Law for Measures to Support the Development of the Next Generation enacted in 2005, efforts were made to realize greater use of the various internal programs already in place. In April 2007, Fuji Xerox was certified as a successful company on the law. In the period from April 1, 2006 to the end of March 2007, 98 percent of female employees who had given birth were on the childcare leave.
